Helen: Paul, I heard your house burnt down. I'm so sorry! How did it start?
Paul: Well, I was reading a newspaper, my wife was doing the hoovering and Lyn was talking on the phone.
Helen: A normal afternoon, then?
Paul: Yes. Then my son Tom came home with his pop group friends, and they wanted to practise.
Helen: I think I can guess what happened.
Paul: Yes. He plugged in his electric guitar the fire started. pand bang! Helen: How shocking!

Kaye: Do you know what Sarah did yesterday?
Don: I have no idea.
Kaye: Well, she was getting ready to bathe her little daughter. She was running the bath when the phone rang, so she went to answer it.
Don: Yes, and ... ?
Kaye: And it was her sister. So, they talked for ages.
Don: Mm-hmm
Kaye: But Sarah didn't realise that the water was still running in the bathroom. Don: Oh, no!
Kaye: Oh, yes! She flooded her bathroom!
Don: What a silly thing to do!

Adam: David and I were fishing when I slipped on a rock.
Jessie: Oh, no! And you fell into the water?
Adam: No, I landed in the mud.
Jessie: But how did you get wet? Adam: Well, as I was getting out of the mud, I slipped again.
Jessie: Ah, so then you fell into the river.
Adam: Yes, but at least I'm not muddy now​
