This is a real story about the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, USA back in 1870. In 1883 a creative engineer, John Roebling, was inspired by an ambitioius idea to build an impressive bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. Bridge building experts thought that this was an impossible project and ptold Roebling to forget the unreal idea
But he convinced his son, Washington, a talented engineer, to find a crew and begin to build their desired bridge .
The long-waited project started well but a few months later a tragic accident took the life of John Roebling. Washington was also injured. He was not able to talk or walk.
Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be stopped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how to build the bridge.
As Washington lay on his bed in his hospital room with the sunlight shining through the windows a gentle breeze blew the white curtains apart and he was able to see the sunny sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.
It seemed that was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly a (despair) idea hit him.
