Mrs. Fairfaix was expecting guests, on a pleasant day.
Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Fairfaix dressed up to meet the guests. Eight guests entered the hall happily. First entered Mrs Eshton and her daughters, Amy and Louisa. She looked youthfull and her daughters were very pretty. Lady Lynn came next with her dark hair and her satin dress. Soon followed Mrs. Colonel Dent, a lady-like gentle woman. Most distinguished were Lady Ingram and her daughters, Blanche and Mary. They were all tall. Lady Ingram had a youthfull glow , deep voice and fierce pressence. Mary was skinny, but Blanche was moulded perfectly.
