It started in a baker's shop on Pudding Lane belonging to Thomas Farriner.

People got away from the fire instead of fighting it, they rescued as many belongings as possible then fled. Thomas Farriner and his family climbed out of a window and onto their neighbour's roof to escape the fire in their bakery.
