- (look) It looks as if it’s going to snow. I am looking for my contact lens.
- (think) I am thinking of going to France for a holiday. How much do you think it would cost to fly to Paris?
- (expect) Tom is expecting an important letter about a job he applied for. Has the postman been yet? / I expect you want to know how much your salary will be if you get the job.
- (smell) Something smells good in the kitchen. What are you cooking? / Why are you cooking that fish? Do you think it has gone off?
- (see) I see what you mean about the flat not being very convenient. It’s too far from the city centre. / I am seeing the estate agent tomorrow to see what other flats he has to offer.
- (weigh) I have been on a diet for a week. I am weighing myself to see how much weight I have lost. I need to know how much the meat weights so I know how long to cook it for.
- (think) John and I are thinking of having a year off to travel round the world. Do you think that’s a good idea?
- (have) I’m afraid I won’t be able to go out this evening. I am having a pile of homework to do. I have a lot of problems with this exercise. Can you help me?
- (look) He looks like the Director of the film. Shall we ask him for an autograph? She is looking at the designs now to see if they can be used.
- (measure) The dressmaker is measuring the client now. This piece of cloth measures 180cm by 2 m, so we will have just about enough for her dress.
