''The Little Match Girl" is a short story written by Hans Christian Anderson. The story is about a little girl who lives in poverty and sadness who instead of going to school or spending time at home with her family like any normal kid, is sent to sell matches to people to make money. When everyone else seems to be having fun and celebrating Christmas, the poor little girl was wandering barefoot and bareheaded on the streets trying to sell her matches. Her old clothes weren't even enough to keep her warm. The girl thought she'd come home and be beaten by her father as she could not make a single penny selling her matches the whole day. So, instead of going home with the fear that she'd be abused, she sat down on the ground outside in a corner in the middle of 2 houses. While sitting there, she lit one of her matches to keep herself warm. Out of no where and to her surprise, she saw an iron stove with bright knob in the bright flame of the match, but when the flame went out, the stove magically vanished. The girl lit three more matches, one after another and saw: a roasted goose on a table, a beautiful Christmas tree and then a vision of her grandmother who loved her very much. She then realized that if the flame went out, she couldn't see the vision of her grandmother anymore. But, she wanted to see her and stay by her side so much that she quickly lit all the matches so she could make sure the light stayed on. Her granny then took her in the arms and flew high up over to God. On the dawn of the new year, the people over there discovered that the girl had frozen to death, while still holding her matches close by her side.
